Radon Inspection

What is Radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas produced by the natural decay of uranium in rock, soil and water. It ranks behind only smoking as a source of lung cancer in the U.S., and is estimated to cause 21,000 deaths a year. Radon exposure commonly takes place in the home, where holes, cracks in the foundation or other openings allow radon gas to enter and accumulate. Houses in every region of the country are at risk for problems, and the Environmental Protection Agency recommends all homeowners test for dangerous radon buildup. For a Healthier Home or Office Contact Kleanforce Environmental Today at 888-653-2796.

The Need for Testing

Radon is odorless and colorless, and testing is needed to verify its presence. Radon testing can be done by individual homeowners, or by certified professionals. The presence of the gas is unpredictable. Houses must be checked on a case-by-case basis, because a clean bill of health for one home is no guarantee a block of houses or a neighborhood won't have radon. Older and newer houses are equally susceptible to contamination, as are houses with and without basements.
